Several weeks ago I had an auction for one of my canvases.  The highest bidder was John Sloan from Holly Springs.  I didn’t know him but we briefly communicated and it was decided that he would pick it up this weekend while he was in town visiting friends.  When he arrived, he said something along the lines of “Thank you for a great image of my bridge”. I get it.  Everyone here has a special tie to the bridge so I asked him what his tie was.  He shrugged and I continued with, “Did you used to live here?” He said, “No, I designed an arch bridge years ago in Virginia while working on my Masters . . .” and it hit me.  The redesign is HIS bridge. 

His wife shared this picture below along with the words:

“John is the engineer of record for this historic bridge rehabilitation project and has won numerous awards for his work. I love how he has combined his love of engineering, beauty, and fiscal/ environmental responsibility in his professional career. A local artist captured this photo when the northern lights were visible here in NC recently.  And when your husband is thrilled, so are you. This art now graces our front living room.”
